Trinity High School Chaplaincy

Mr BirkinshawMeet the Chaplain!

Hi, I’m Steve Birkinshaw, the School Chaplain.

As School Chaplain it’s my privilege to help students and staff explore and develop faith in a safe, relevant and encouraging environment, and help us celebrate what it means to be a faith community with a Christian ethos.

The school’s chaplaincy offers several connection points throughout the life of the school: weekly Christian Unions for upper and lower school, monthly Eucharists (attendance is on a voluntary basis), informal counselling, a spiritually-reflective thought for the week, spiritual retreats, and a variety of special events in school and around Manchester.

You’ll see me around the school, in assemblies, in RE lessons, teaching maths, and on some school trips. I love the outdoors, football, music, travel, and good food (in no particular order).

I'm very approachable, so please say 'hi', and if I can help you in any way I will.

Christian Unions - Every Tuesday

The Christian Union is every Tuesday. It’s a place to come and explore faith & life in a fun way ... please also bring your lunch along.

Year 7 'Exploring Christianity' Retreat

On Friday 26 and Saturday 27 April, we had the opportunity to visit Edale for our annual Year 7 Exploring Christianity Retreat.

The overnight retreat saw students exploring their Christian faith in the inspiring surroundings of the Peak District and having a lot of fun participating in adventurous activities.

Students’ confidence and agility was stretched on the high ropes, aim and concentration tested at archery and strength and teamwork challenged in canoeing.

Feedback from the children was very positive; some asking when they could go on a similar retreat again and others going home more confident in understanding how their faith shapes their lives.

The retreat ended after a demanding walk over Hollins Cross, and some much welcomed ice cream in Castleton!

Thank you to all parents and staff, and the Trinity Charitable Trust
Fund, who helped in making this retreat enjoyable and worthwhile.

This year's Exporing Christianity Retreat is provisionally booked for Friday 28 - Saturday 29 April 2017.
