Core Mathematics


What is Core Mathematics?

Maths is for everyone. It is diverse, engaging and essential to equip you with vital skills for many careers.

The aims of the course:

  • To builds upon and strengthen existing skills.
  • To using and apply mathematics to solve problems relevant to everyday life.
  • To understand the financial applications of mathematics as well building on the statistical ideas from GCSE.

What Will I Learn?

  • Mathematical models and their uses in real life situations
  • Analysis of data
  • Personal finance
  • Estimation
  • Critical analysis

You will also study one of either statistical techniques, graphical analysis or critical path and risk analysis.

 

What Do I Need to Study Core Mathematics?

Preferred grades:

  • Five GCSE grades A*- C
  • GCSE Maths grade 5 or above
