What is Spanish?

Modern Foreign Languages are for anyone interested in people, communication and travel.







Why Study Spanish?

If you are interested in becoming a Primary School Teacher, a language is a huge advantage.

You can continue studying Spanish with the following (and more!);

  • Law
  • Sociology
  • Journalism
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Marketing
  • Accounting
  • Engineering



What Will I Learn?

The course provides an opportunity to build on the language skills you have already acquired at GCSE. You will achieve a level of competence where you can use the language confidently in a Spanish speaking environment much more spontaneously that in Year 11.

Year 12 topics include:-

Leisure and Lifestyles—including travel and tourism, healthy living and well being, customs, traditions and sport and holidays in modern society.

The Individual and Society—including relationships and responsibilities, youth culture, generation gaps, education and career.

Year 13 topics include:-

Environmental Issues—including pollution, transport, energy, conservation and sustainability

Social and Political Issues—including, media, advertising, immigration, social exclusion, terrorism and globalisation.

Guided Studies—2 of the following: The World of Cinema, The World of Literature, The Regions of France.



What Do I Need to Study Spanish?

5 A* - C grades, including a Grade B or above in Spanish.
