The PE Department makes a significant contribution to the ethos and aims of the school through its provision of a comprehensive and meaningful extra-curricular programme.  As the school day comes to a close the PE department is a hive of activity providing further learning experiences for our students outside the classroom.  During 2018-2019 we have competed in over 285 competitions in a 12 different sports. On our busiest evenings we have had 6 different teams going out on fixtures.  So it really is a big team effort to get everyone organised and out playing.

Extra-curricular activity is perceived as both an opportunity to pursue and enhance skills and interests fostered during the curriculum and an avenue through which students can develop new interests and abilities.

The Department, with some assistance from other colleagues, currently organises a wide range of competitive and non-competitive clubs, teams and activities including:

Athletics                      Football

Basketball                   Handball

Cricket                         Netball

Cross-Country             Rounders

Badminton                  Table-Tennis

Rugby                         Dodgeball

Fitness Suite                Dance

Sports Day

Each year we host a Sports Day at Sports City for Year 7-10, this is a showcase event, which enables our students to represent their forms and houses.  We have a wide range of events from your traditional Track and Field to some other fun events.

Sports Awards Evening

Each year we host a Sports Awards evening to celebrate and showcase the commitment and dedication to Team Trinity.  During the evening Students can receive awards for their commitment and contribution to our extra-curricular clubs and school teams.

Students can receive the following awards:

Year colours:

Attended regular practice 75% or represented the school in a competition fixture during the year

2 year colours:

Students will have participated in school sport for 2 years, attended regular practice 75% or represented the school in a competition fixture for two years

Half colours:

Students will have participated in school sport for 3 years, attended regular practice 75% or represented the school in a competition fixture for three years.

4 year colours:

Students will have participated in school sport for 4 years, attended regular practice 75% or represented the school in a competition fixture for four years.

Full colours:

Students will have participated in school sport for 5 years, attended regular practice 75% or represented the school in a competition fixture for five years.

Player of the year:

This is awarded to the Player of the year for each team who has shown talent, commitment and outstanding performance.

Sports pupil of the year:

This award is given to the outstanding girl and boy in each year, for their contribution to the school sport and extra-curricular throughout the year.

Sports personality of the year:

This award is given to the outstanding girl and boy in year 11, for their contribution to the school sport and extra-curricular throughout their time at Trinity.
