6th Form Cultural Day

Before the Easter Break the sixth form had a wonderful time celebrating the different cultures that make up our community during a Culture Week. We enjoyed cultural music during break time along with different snacks and drinks that may not have been sampled before. The culmination of the week was on the Friday where students were invited to wear cultural dress with countries represented such as Somalia, Ghana, UAE, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria and Switzerland.

It was a great celebration of diversity and there was a real sense of unity and respect from the students and the staff who participated!

Our 6th Form Update

Ms Hall writes:

“Our Year 13 students have been involved with a mentoring programme called ‘The Girls Network’ where professional women from backgrounds such as Police, Third Sector and Higher Education are matched with our students to improve confidence and communication along with awareness of the working world. This cohort have now finished their mentoring programme but as a one off event the Girls Network put on a Women of Colour networking event where students were invited to meet women from a variety of senior management backgrounds such as HR and Science to ask questions about diversity in the workplace – an inspiring time was had by all!”

The economics and business A-Level classes were fortunate to attend a grade booster event run by Tutor2u at the Trafford Centre, where students gained insight from experienced examiners on how to boost their exam technique along with sharing lessons learnt from last years exam papers and what to expect from the Summer exams this year.
Some of our Y13 students have been going through the assessment process for Degree Apprenticeship offers from a variety of employers such as PWC, Ernst & Young and Dyson. So far we have three students who have accepted degree apprenticeships – Favour will be hopefully working as a Computer Data Analyst for Bloomberg London, Sahib working with Ernst & Young in their tax department and Adam for PWC Manchester on the Flying Start Audit Apprenticeship in partnership with the Manchester Business School. All these offers are conditional on the outcome of the summer exams so fingers crossed! Our Y13 engineers are still waiting to hear from companies such as Dyson and Arup so good luck to them during assessment.
Year 12 continue to secure work experience placements for our Work Experience week in the last week of term – employers from health, education, early years, pharmacy, hospitality and leisure industries have confirmed their availability. We have appreciated the support from home in securing these placements and have prioritised this for our students so they can develop the necessary skills to thrive in the working world.

If you have any questions or know any other employers that will take on a Y12 student from 17th-22nd July, please email sixthform@trinityhigh.com.
