Advance Notice of School Closure

You will have seen in the national news that many teachers are going to be ‘on strike’ for 4 days through February and March. The first of these strike days is on Wednesday 1st February 2023. Each school must conduct a ‘risk assessment’ to consider the safety of staff and students on that day, and given the number of teachers who are likely to be absent, we will be closed for the majority of students; these students will still be set schoolwork, but they will be working from home. The only students who will be in school are a group who have additional needs (parents and students will be informed of this directly next week), and we will have provision to cater for a limited number of children of ‘critical workers’ – we will send a link out for you to register your child next week.

For the majority of students who will be ‘working from home’, work will be set remotely through our tried and tested ‘Show My Homework’ system. Students will be able to log in and complete tasks in the core subject areas.

I will give you a fuller update next week, but please make sure you have appropriate childcare in place for this first strike day, Wednesday 1st February 2023.
