Black Lawyers Programme
From Teacher of Social Sciences, Ms Baller: “Our Year 10 Black Lawyers Programme attended the Anthony Walker Foundation Law Scholarship Scheme Event at the Lowry last week, hosted by the CPS. The foundation was set up in the memory of Anthony Walker and works to tackle racism, hate crime and discrimination by providing educational opportunities, bursaries and apprenticeship programmes aimed at ensuring the CPS is representative of the community it serves. The students listened to numerous talks throughout the day, inspiring the students about different careers within the CPS, including one from Nathan Miebai who is a part of the National Black Crown Prosecutors Association and was one of the first recipients of the Anthony Walker Foundation Scholarship. The students took part in Q&A sessions with professionals from the CPS and they discussed their experiences and what they had learnt from the day to the entire event. Our group were highly praised as an outstanding group of young people by those running the event.”
