Christmas Carol Service at The Church of the Holy Name
Continuing with our musical successes, from Director of Music, Mrs Madden:
“We were delighted to host our annual Carol Service on 20th December at the Church of the Holy Name on Oxford Road and it was a wonderful evening of music, carols, readings and prayers, with a chance to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate together with our Trinity community.
We are so proud that 200 students from Year 7 to Year 13 participated in the service, with performances from all four of our Choirs, Orchestra, Steel Pans, Guitar, Woodwind, Brass and String Groups. Highlights included the candlelit procession, the Sixth Form Singers who performed two reflective pieces from the perspective of Mary, the Orchestra performing music from the film The Polar Express, a stunning rendition of John Rutter’s I wish you Christ-mas and the combined Choirs and Band joyfully ending the service with a gospel arrangement of Go Tell it On the Mountain. The church was completely full with standing room only and the congregation joined in with carols such as O Come All Ye Faithful and Joy to the World.
We would like to thank distinguished guests the Lord Lieutenant for Greater Manchester, Mrs Diane Hawkins, the Diocesan Director for Education, Mrs Deborah Smith and the Bishop of Manchester, The Rt Revd Prof David Walker, for joining us and contributing to the service by reading a lesson. We would especially like to thank all our talented pupils for sharing their gifts to help us celebrate this special time of year.”
