Couch To 5k

Our P.E department is launching the “couch to 5k” initiative with students in P.E lessons this week. The initiative involves 3 runs per week with a day of rest in between and a different schedule for 9 weeks. Firstly, you will need to download the “couch to 5k” app. Other family members are also welcome to join in with the challenge!

Week 1
You will begin with a brisk 5 minute walk. You will then alternate 1 minute of running and 1 and a half minutes of walking, for a total of 20 minutes.

 

The benefits of the initiative include:

  • Physical benefits – cardiovascular fitness will improve.
  • Social benefits – if you can get your family involved it will provide time to spend together.
  • Emotional benefits – include stress reliever and will help boost your confidence and self belief.
  • It gets us outside in the fresh air and away from a screen!
