Debate Mate

From Teacher of English and Head of House, Ms Wilson:
“A team of Year 9 students from Trinity’s Debate Mate group competed in their first debating contest on Tuesday, 2nd February. They were competing against a team from Sydenham High School in London and had to adjust to the challenges of online debating. The motion was: This house would ban people who post fake news and false information on social media; our students were arguing in opposition to this proposal. They did a fantastic job, communicating their points clearly and backing them up with thoughtful evidence and examples; they also challenged the other side with meaningful questions and rebuttals. Finally, it was announced that Team Trinity were the winners of the competition! They will now continue to refine their skills ready for the next competition round.”
