Inspiring Engineering
From Head of Engineering, Mr Barnes:
“Some of our Year 7 pupils have been attending an after school club in the Engineering Department. They have been working with some professional Engineers from a company called Mott Macdonald, on a project to design and build bridges. The bridges are part of a masterplan to help rebuild an island community that has been devastated by a natural disaster.
The Year 7 pupils have been working in teams to design and build a model of their bridges. During the latest session, we tested the bridges to destruction by adding weights to them until they collapsed. Some of the bridges could hold over 20kg before they finally broke.
Here are some pictures of our Inspiring Engineers and their mentors from Mott Macdonald. They are proudly showing off their fantastic bridges that they have created.”
