Mathematics Trip
From Teacher of Maths, Ms Williams:
“On Monday 24th June, a group of Year 10 mathematicians enjoyed a trip to the Alan Turing Building at The University of Manchester. The students took part in a variety of problem-solving workshops which tested their mathematical abilities, including estimating how quickly a human would free-fall from space, gaining an insight into topology and delving into the mathematics behind magic tricks. The day ended with a Dragon Maths competition where each Trinity Team won a mathematics-themed prize!
One of the reasons for this trip is to give our Year 10 students an insight into studying Mathematics beyond GCSE. This is the time when our students should start to think about their post-16 options and we want to be on hand to offer as much support as possible. At Trinity Sixth Form, A-Level Mathematics is the most popular subject and students really flourish on the course. We also offer further mathematics for students who are keen to push themselves. If students want to find out any more information about the courses on offer, they can contact the mathematics department in school.”
