Netherlands Concert Tour 2023!

Mrs Madden writes:

Just before the holidays, 66 musicians & singers and 8 staff had an unforgettable experience completing a Concert Tour to Holland, visiting Soest, Delft, Amsterdam and Zandvoort as well as giving two fantastic public concerts featuring the choir, orchestra, stage band, steel pans, guitar group, brass group, string group and band skills. The crowd especially enjoyed famous hits such as A Million Dreams, Dancing Queen and Tequila, even joining in a spontaneous conga!

We enjoyed going bowling & playing sports (to relax and build our team-work skills) as well as developing our cultural awareness by visiting the beautiful city of Delft, having a meal in a traditional Dutch Pancake House and taking in the sights of Amsterdam on a canal boat cruise. We were fortunate to experience the Anne Frank House which was a very moving and thought provoking visit and are proud that the students represented our school in such a respectful and exemplary manner.

After giving our final concert, we ended the day on Zandvoort beach, having lots of fun together before heading home by coach on Monday, singing and playing games all the way! Our students made such a positive impression on everyone they met: the coach driver even made a speech about how they are a credit to their school and families…..It’s hard to put into words what a wonderful and memorable time was had by all, so here are a few quotes from those who experienced the tour:

A member of the public, on holiday from Ansbach, Germany, emailed school to say: “We absolutely enjoyed the music and the passion both of the students and teachers. And we appreciate your efforts encouraging young students to bring such an amazing body of entertainment to a public place. Bravo!

Special thanks to the staff who gave up their time to support the children in their musical and cultural adventure.
