Prayer Journey

In the chapel last week our Chaplain, Revd Dr Steve Birkinshaw, organised a special week of prayer around the theme of ‘Starting a journey with God …’, inspired by the national movement ‘Prayer Spaces in Schools’. Students were invited to prayerfully explore the start of the year using the metaphor of a journey using a wall a thanks, packing items in a suitcase, and writing their plans for the year ahead. Feedback was very positive, with one student saying, ‘I liked the quietness of praying like this partway through the school day,’ and another student commented, ‘it helped me to stop and take a look at year ahead, and ask God what he wants me to do for others in this year.’ The Prayer Spaces will be repeated every half term throughout the year, with the next week planned around the theme of Christmas.
