Protest Music Workshop and Halle Orchestra Concert
Director of Music, Mrs Madden, tells us more about these two events:
Protest Music Workshop
“Thirty of our Year 9s participated in a Protest Music project at our local Arts Centre, Z-Arts, in Hulme last month. This was a special project led by local artist Pops Roberts, supported by ‘Love Music Hate Racism’, a national organisation which challenges racism through the power of music and MADE, which is Manchester’s local cultural education partnership. This was a fabulous opportunity to work with industry professionals around issues that our young people really care about, learn new skills, develop team work and create a fantastic and moving set of protest lyrics, which the students all performed at the end of the day.”
Halle Orchestra Concert
“The Halle Orchestra performed a wonderful concert at the Bridgewater Hall on Thursday 10th November with Prokofiev’s 2nd Piano Concerto and Sibelius’s Fifth Symphony. This was a new initiative enabling students to attend for only £2 and we were delighted and proud that around a dozen Trinity pupils chose to attend with their families. It was wonderful to see such a vibrant and enthusiastic audience at the fantastic concert hall and we hope the experience has inspired our Trinity pupils to visit the Bridgewater Hall and hear our local professional orchestras many times in the future!”
