Remembrance Day
Last week in school, our community marked Remembrance with a series of assemblies. The week began with live assemblies for year groups in the Drama Studio, which included performances by the School Choir and Brass Group, as well as a minute’s silence starting with ‘The Last Post’ performed by Ethan and Sam in y10 and finishing with the ‘Kohima Epitaph’ read by Finn in Y9. Students were reminded of William Thirwell, a gentleman who lived where the school now stands, who lost his life in the first world war.
Thursday’s video assembly in forms was led by our A-Level students, who spoke about inspiring individuals who have served in conflicts. The students spoke and performed exceptionally well, and the whole school community marked Remembrance by reflecting in a dignified, respectful and thoughtful manner.
