RNCM Anniversary Concert
Ms Madden writes, “We were delighted to hold our annual concert at the Royal Northern College of Music on Thursday 20th April with 200 performers and over 500 audience members! It was a wonderful and joyful experience with so many varied ensembles including Orchestra, Bands, Guitars, Strings, Ukuleles, Woodwind, Steel Pans and three Choirs. We were treated to some incredibly memorable moments, too many to list, but special mention must go to Gabriel in Y7, fresh from the Irish Dancing world championships in Canada, who amazed us with his dancing during the orchestra performance of The Lord of the Dance, Jess-Leigh in Y12 who wowed us with her professional rendition of Feeling Good accompanied by Stage Band and Giovanni in Y7 whose guitar solo in Bohemian Rhapsody gave Sir Brian May a run for his money!”
The performances were breathtakingly impressive and the feedback from the audience was amazing. Our guests wrote:
“It was without doubt a resounding success and was the finest example I have seen of a school community working so collectively, for each other, in support of each other with all participants having equal status, attention and involvement”.
“The standard of performance from all of your pupils, from those just starting out to those now leaving was amazing and a total credit to the school. It was also a perfect example of how music in schools is such a positive experience for young people.”
The whole evening ended on an emotional high with a finale of over 140 singers and musicians performing Sing, originally written for the late Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012. Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved in an extraordinary and memorable occasion.
