St Ann’s Advent Carol Service

We enjoyed a wonderful start to the Advent season on Friday 1st December at a packed St Ann’s Church in Manchester, with over 120 singers and musicians leading us in a meaningful and uplifting service. The woodwind and string groups performed reflective ensemble pieces and our choirs were stunning, leading us in congregational carols such as ‘O Come Emmanuel’ as well as performing a diverse range of music, from the Year 7 singers haunting rendition of ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ to the Choir’s rousing choral classic ‘Sleepers Wake’ by Mendelssohn.

The sixth Form singers performed ‘I Sing of a Maiden’ with such emotion and professionalism and the Gospel Choir was wonderful in their moving delivery of ‘Your Grace Still Amazes Me’. After the service, we all enjoyed participating in the blessing of the crib and singing ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ accompanied by our fantastic Brass group. Congratulations to all the performers and readers. Thank you to the staff involved and to all who attended.

We look forward to seeing you at our Christmas Music and Drama Showcase on Wednesday 13th December in our Drama Studio at 6.30pm and at our Christmas Carol Service at Church of the Holy Name on Oxford Street at on Wednesday 20th December 2023 at 7.00pm.
