Term Time and Holiday Pattern
In last week’s newsletter, we focused on the importance of attendance at school. This week, we would like to take the opportunity to remind parents about the holiday and term time pattern for the rest of the 2019/20 academic year.
Holidays should not be taken in term time. It is expected that parents will use the 13 weeks of school holidays per year for family holidays and/or leave of absence. All requests for family holidays and/or leave of absence, including religious observance, must be made in writing and submitted for the Head’s consideration prior to the leave of absence being booked or taken.
Schools are no longer able to authorise requests for leave of absence during term time, other than in exceptional circumstances. Family holidays and/or leave of absence taken in term time without permission could result in a Penalty Notice being issued by the Local Authority. Penalty Notices issued for unauthorised absences will incur a fine of £120 to be paid within 28 days, reduced to £60 if paid within 21 days of the notice being served. Failure to pay a Penalty Notice may result in further statutory action being taken.
We thank parents in advance for their support and cooperation in this matter.
