The Bishop of Guyana’s visit
On Monday, 20 June, the school was honoured to be visited by The Right Revd Charles Davidson who is the Bishop of Guyana. Bishop Charles was visiting the Manchester Diocese, on his way to participating in ‘Windrush 75 National Service of Thanksgiving’ in London.
During his visit, Bishop Charles showed a particular interest in our diverse cohort of students and our work towards becoming an Anti-Racist School, led by Ms Ripley, helping him learn about issues of race equality here in education, especially with regard to the Caribbean community.
Bishop Charles enjoyed meeting students and staff across the school and speaking about the forthcoming School Cultural Day on Thursday 6th July. The visit finished with lunch in the Sixth Form Centre and a chance to pause for a photo next to the flag of Guyana, which Bishop Charles spotted in our Cultural Day bunting! Thanks to Ms Ripley and Rev. Dr Steve Birkinshaw for being the Bishop’s hosts.
