The Queen’s Green Canopy
The Queen’s Green Canopy is a unique tree planting initiative to mark the Queen’s Jubilee in 2022. Schools, scout groups, individuals, villages, etc, have been encouraged to plant trees in order to enhance the environment, with a particular focus on planting sustainably.
Through our partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh’s award, we were delighted to receive ten small saplings last month as part of the initiative. These have now been planted in our nature area at the rear of the school and we look forward to sharing them with you once they start to bud in the Spring.
Incidentally, one of our Year 8 students, Theo, has also been involved in the initiative through his Scout Group. Theo was selected to plant trees with the Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, last month – what a great opportunity!
