Trinity Taizé Pilgrimage 2022

A few weeks ago, Revd Dr Birkinshaw and Mrs Farndon took a number of our Year 10 to 13 students on Pilgrimage to the Taizé Community in southern France. For a few students it was their first experience of Taizé and for others they were pleased to be able to return after two COVID years during which the Pilgrimage was not able to take place. Taizé life is very different to life in Manchester, with three Taizé prayers a day, international Bible discussion groups, and volunteering to clean and serve the community. All the students found the Pilgrimage to be a meaningful and deeply spiritual experience through which they deepened their understanding of God and the world, whilst deepening friendships and making new ones – and all wanted to return next year. They were asked to sum up their Taizé pilgrimage in three words; here are a few responses: patience, fruitfulness, reflection, a different way, volunteering, time-worthy, inclusive, peaceful, community, friendly, international. We hope to be able to offer the Taizé Pilgrimage next year for students who would be interested.
