Year 11 Boys’ Manchester Cup Final

From Teacher of PE, Mr Dootson:

“The Year 11 boys’ football team have had an amazing run in the Manchester Cup this year, beating off various opponents (St Matthews, Manchester Grammar and Burnage) in fantastic style to reach the final. Unfortunately, in an enthusiastic game which went to penalties, we sadly lost in the final, 2-2 (4-3 on penalties), against the Manchester Communications Academy. The game was played with passion and sportsmanship which was shown throughout the duration of the game. In particular when Samir offered some support to one of the opposition players who went down with cramp towards the end of the game. The performances from every player were nothing short of courageous and I was extremely proud of the team on how they conducted themselves after being beaten on penalties; it was a true testament to their characters off the pitch. Congratulations also to students awarded with ‘man of the match’ throughout the cup games – Isaa, Nehemiah, Andrew and Joel.”
