Year 13 physicists
Teacher of Science, Ms Kirkman, tells us more:
“Last week our Year 13 physicists visited the Lovell telescope at Jodrell Bank, the world’s third largest fully steerable radio telescope. The students spent the day continuing their study of non-optical telescopes, exploring how they work and why they are so important in our current astronomical research. It was a fantastic day exploring a World Heritage Site that has contributed so much to our current understanding of astrophysical objects such as pulsars and the students learnt a great deal about the history of the site which has been an active research telescope since 1957.”
