Year 7 Exploring Christianity Retreat
Thirty of our year 7 students spent two days in the Peak District on our ‘Y7 Exploring Christianity Retreat’. Leaving early on Friday morning, the students headed off to Hathersage then Burbage for a day of adventurous activities. The students stayed overnight at the picturesque YHA Edale, where Sarah and Pete (our guest speakers from Holy Trinity, Platt) facilitated the Exploring Christianity sessions. Next morning, following a hearty breakfast, the group conquered Mam Tor and after pausing for lunch with a view over the Hope and Edale valleys, wound their way into Castleton for some well-deserved sweets and ice-cream. Students reflected, ‘It was a thrilling experience to hang off a cliff abseiling’ and ‘The Exploring Christianity sessions were very thoughtful insights into faith’. Our thanks go to Mrs Farndon and our Chaplain, Revd Dr Birkinshaw.
