Young Writers’ Showcase

We had a party recently to mark the end of our first Young Writers programme. Students, parents, author Danielle Jawando and representatives of the writing charity ‘First Story’ came together to celebrate what has been an exceptional experience for all of us. Students shared a piece of their writing and we closed the afternoon by announcing the in-school winner of the First Story creative writing competition. Well done to Eva, who won a takeaway lunch for herself and a friend with her poem ‘Picture Powers’.
Huge congratulations to Elizabeth, who has won the national First Story festival competition with her poem ‘Hoarder’s Honeymoon’. Her poem will be featured in Downing College’s literary magazine The Leaves. See the image that Quentin Blake created as inspiration for the competition below.
