Politics Trip to the Labour Party Conference
From Year 12 student, Ben W:
“On Wednesday 29th September, Year 12 and 13 Politics students visited the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool. The trip provided a fantastic opportunity to experience politics in action and hear from influential speakers in the conference’s main hall.
“Students listened to speeches from Yvette Cooper, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, who spoke about increased investment in maternity and social care, and Lisa Nandy, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, who highlighted the importance of youth work and committed to rebuilding youth services across the UK.
“The group also heard a powerful speech from independent activist Georgia Harrison, who discussed the impact of the internet and issues surrounding consent. She shared her hopes for the future of social media and outlined the responsibilities she would like social media companies to take on voluntarily.

“In addition, students explored the conference exhibition space, speaking with a range of organisations both within and outside the Labour Party. This provided valuable insight into the many causes and campaigns represented at the event. Students also enjoyed seeing major news organisations, including Sky News, broadcasting live from the conference.
The visit was a brilliant experience and gave students a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of politics beyond the classroom.”
