Careers Guidance
Careers education is an integral part of the offer at Trinity
In line with our core values of Faith in the City, Value in People and Excellence in Education, careers education is an integral part of the offer at Trinity. We strive to ensure students can utilise the information, advice and guidance on offer to be able to make informed decisions about both their next steps and those beyond. Our programme meets national statutory requirements and follows the Gatsby Benchmarks for good careers guidance. We are committed to providing every student with high-quality, impartial advice and meaningful encounters that support successful transitions at every stage.
Careers guidance in practice
Trinity has strong working relationships with a wide range of employers, apprenticeship, FE and HE providers. In line with the Baker Clause, if you are interested in supporting Trinity with our careers provision please see our Provider Access Policy to explore how you can get involved.
We were recently accredited with the Quality in Careers Standard award, an achievement that we are incredibly proud of. One aspect that was highlighted in this process was the holistic, whole school approach to careers at Trinity.
Careers education overview
Our Careers Programme provides students with clear, impartial advice and real-life experiences to help them make informed decisions about their future. From Year 7 to Year 13, students are supported to explore opportunities, understand the world of work and plan their next steps with confidence.

Exploring careers early (Key Stage 3)
In Years 7–9, students begin exploring different careers and pathways. Through Career of the Fortnight, they learn about a wide range of jobs and receive up-to-date Labour Market Information (LMI).
During form time, students:
Students also use Unifrog to explore careers, complete interest quizzes and begin linking their strengths to possible future pathways and Year 9 students take part in Enterprise Week, developing teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Preparing for the next steps (Key Stage 4)
In Years 10–11, the focus shifts to preparing for post-16 choices and gaining first-hand experience. Students:
All Year 10 students complete a Work Experience placement, giving them valuable insight into the workplace and Year 11 students take part in Mock Interviews to build confidence and develop professional skills.Students continue to use Unifrog to record achievements, research options and reflect on their experiences. Students also receive one-to-one guidance from a qualified Careers Adviser.
Planning for post-18
In Years 12–13, students receive tailored support for university, apprenticeships and employment.
Students:
- Attend a Sixth Form Careers Week
- Visit universities
- Complete a professional work placement in Year 12
- Receive guidance with UCAS applications and personal statements
- Access weekly UCAS drop-in support
Sixth Form students work closely with a Careers Adviser to ensure they are fully prepared for life after school.
Encounters with employers and universities
Throughout the year, students benefit from:
- An annual Careers Fair with employers, universities and training providers
- University visits and guest speakers
- Curriculum lessons linked directly to career pathways
- Educational visits connected to specific industries
- Additional opportunities shared with students and parents as they arise
These experiences help students understand the skills employers value and the wide range of routes available. Students can become Careers Officers, helping to shape and promote the school’s careers programme.
How we measure impact
We regularly evaluate our performance against the eight Gatsby benchmarks and we fully meet these benchmarks across the board. We use a range of tools to measure the impact of our careers education programme. These include:

Student, staff and parent voice
Feedback from visiting employers
Feedback from other stakeholders, for example the NCS
Review of the Y10 and Y12 work experience programme
Review of the Y11 mock interview programme
Feedback from external measures such as our Compass evaluation and The Quality in Careers Standard award
