Annual Sports Day Event

From Head of PE, Ms Barrett:

Last Friday, students in Years 7 to 10 travelled to Sports City for our annual Sports Day. Despite a challenging start, the event proved to be a fantastic day of competition, participation and school spirit.

The morning began with dark clouds and heavy rain, which threatened to disrupt the day’s activities. However, by midday the weather had improved significantly, with the rain clearing and the sun making a welcome appearance, creating much better conditions for the remainder of the event.

Throughout the day, students proudly represented both their forms and houses as they competed in a wide range of events. The programme included traditional track and field competitions such as sprints, middle distance races, long jump and throwing events. Alongside these were several fun races, including an obstacle race, skipping race and egg-and-spoon race. These activities ensured that students of all abilities had the opportunity to participate, contribute valuable points and enjoy the day.

Students demonstrated excellent effort, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition. There was strong support from competitors and spectators alike, creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere across the venue.

The day concluded with a series of exciting and closely contested relay races, which provided a thrilling finish to the competition. Students were then treated to one final event as members of staff took to the track to battle it out in a highly anticipated staff relay, much to the delight of the crowd.

Overall, Sports Day was a great success. It showcased the talent, enthusiasm and teamwork of our students while strengthening both form and house spirit. The event provided an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone involved.
