Being safe and respected (part 2)

It was slightly unusual for me to write my piece about the ‘antisocial behaviour’ that can sometimes occur in school. As a community, we recognise that the vast majority of students know exactly what is right and wrong and usually make wise choices.

In my assemblies this week, I used the story created by Will Smith and Chris Rock at last year’s Oscars ceremony to highlight the choices people can make and the consequences of taking certain actions. In Will Smith’s case the revenge taken did have lasting consequences.

I encouraged all students when faced with something that challenges them to stop and think before acting. Students should feel confident to ’walk away’ from challenging situations and most importantly seek the support from their confident and knowledgeable pastoral support team or anyone else on duty.
