Cathedral Carol Service

From Director of Music, Mrs Madden:

“On Wednesday 17th December, a record 200 pupils took part in our spectacular Christmas Carol Service at Manchester Cathedral. The service featured all our senior musical ensem-bles such as Orchestra, Guitar, Strings, Brass, Woodwind and Steel Pans Groups as well as our four choirs and were led by our Director of Music, Mrs Madden and the music team. The music included a wide range of gen-res and styles from Bach and Mozart to Irish Folk and Gospel, Beach Boys to Tchaikovsky alongside several traditional carols. Many thanks to our Chaplain, Rev Dr Birkinshaw and our excellent readers who helped to bring the true meaning of Christmas to life. Thank you also to our special guests: Mrs Diane Hawkins, Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Mr Martin Ainscough, High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, Cllr Carmine Grim-shaw, Lord Mayor of Manchester, The Rt Revd David Walker, Bishop of Manchester, The Ven Karen Best, Archdeacon of Manchester, Mrs Deborah Smith, Diocesan Director of Education, Mr Terry Hart, Deputy Dioce-san Director of Education, Revd Ann Meadowcroft, Chair of Governors and The Very Revd Rogers Govender, The Dean of Manchester.
