Gospel Choir performs at the MOBO Fringe

Our incredible Gospel Choir continued their run of success with an invitation to perform at the prestigious Black Sounds Gala on Thursday 19th March at the Whitworth Art Gallery for the launch of the MOBO Fringe events. The Music of Black Origin Awards took place in Manchester for the first time on 26th March, and it was an honour to perform for their 30th Anniversary.

Our choir of 82 singers performed Optimistic, You Gotta Be and Ringing Them Bells followed by our Senior Gospel Choir who wowed the guests with their rendition of Man in the Mirror.

The event included a celebration of Manchester’s black creatives and artists, and was organised by the local organisation Black Creative Trailblazers, featuring dancers, singers and visual artists from across the city, with a launch speech by Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham and Council Leader, Bev Craig.

Our students and choir director, Ms Carla Jane were interviewed for ITV to be featured on Granada Reports. The journalist said our students were the most articulate and inspiring young people he had ever met, and Andy Burnham was so impressed, he has asked to visit our school! Congratulations to Gospel Choir members for being such fantastic ambassadors for the school. You can watch the ITV report here.

The Manchester Sings MOBOs video project was also launched this week, involving over 70 schools across Manchester – Trinity was the lead choir and the video was screened during the actual award ceremony:
