40th Anniversary Cathedral Carol Service

On Wednesday, 18th December, 2024, our Cathedral Carol Service marked the conclusion of a wide variety of events and initiatives celebrating the school’s 40th year. Alongside the central theme of Christmas – celebrating the long-promised arrival of Jesus as Messiah – we also gave thanks to God for the past 40 years of our school’s life.

The service followed the traditional pattern of music, lessons, reflections and carols. However, this year, our Christmas music, songs, and readings, reflected the beauty of our diverse school community. We listened to readings in the languages spoken in the homes of our families, and music and songs from cultures around the world. A special thanks must go to three Trinity parents, Mr Gordon, Mrs Baryla and Ms Oloyede for generously and expertly coaching the choirs with their Polish and Yoruba.

We were also delighted to welcome special guests to the service, who lead readings, including, Diane Hawkins JP LLB (HM Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester), Cllr Paul Andrews (Lord Mayor of Manchester), The Rt Revd David Walker (Bishop of Manchester), The Rt Revd Mark Davies (Bishop of Middleton), The Ven Karen Best (Archdeacon of Manchester) and Mrs Deborah Smith (Diocesan Director of Education).

The service ended with Gospel Choir singing Joy to the World, summing up the joy of our 40th year. Our thanks go to our Chaplain, Dr Revd Birkinshaw, Director of Music, Mrs Madden, the whole music team and our wonderful students for putting together such a beautiful service.
