Advent Carol Service

Director of Music, Ms Madden, tells us more:

“On 6th December, over 120 students took part in our annual Advent Carol Service at St Ann’s Church in Manchester, starting off the Christmas season with meaningful and reflective prayers, music and songs, themed on Light from Darkness. Following our Advent Assemblies last week where we lit candles for our whole Trinity community, the Choir reprised a song called Come Light our Hearts as well as James Macmillan’s a cappella O Radiant Dawn. We heard beautiful music from the String and Woodwind Group and the largest congregation we have ever known joined in with a selection of famous Advent carols including O Come Emmanuel. Our Year 7 Singers were amazingly loud and enthusiastic, and the Sixth Form Singers sang in perfect harmony during their rendition of Silent Night. Our Gospel Choir is the biggest it has ever been and wowed everyone with their moving performance of I Wait. The whole event concluded with a blessing around the crib led by Rev Dr Birkinshaw, and we all sang O Little Town of Bethlehem accompanied by our Brass Group, with passers-by and office workers joining in heartily. It was a wonderful, joyful and spiritual event and we are very proud of every single student who took part. They were a credit to our community. Thank you to all family, friends, staff and governors who supported us. We hope to see you on Wednesday 18th December at 7.30pm for our Cathedral Christmas Carol Service.”
