Eco-Council

From the Chaplain, Revd Dr Birkinshaw: “Congratulations to members of the school’s Eco-Council who were addressing members of the Diocese of Manchester Synod. The students were asked to answer the question ‘What would you ask the Church to do to help with the climate crisis?’ Their responses – which were well-informed, articulate and inspiring – included the call ‘to install community gardens, pressure global industries to reduce the release of toxic fumes, fund climate-change charities, stop using plastic cups for Holy Communion, and stop eating so much meat.’ Mr Dootson, leader of the school’s Eco-Council praised the students’ videos saying, “I admire the students who are putting into practice their belief that ‘perfect practice is the journey to success.’” The Eco-Council are continuing to look at projects around school to develop the school’s knowledge around climate change.”
