Eucharist
Last Friday we welcomed Canon Simon Gatenby from Brunswick Parish Church, to lead our ‘Trinity Eucharist’. As well as the importance of sharing around the communion table, Canon Simon brought with him very practical and fun illustrations to help explain the Trinity – a three-legged stool and some Jaffa Cakes. The students enjoyed watching Simon almost topple off the stool, but it’s fair to say ‘exploring’ the mystery of the Trinity through eat-ing Jaffa Cakes would always be a winner for school students. The Jaffa cake represented the Trinity as the ‘3 in 1’ principal where the sponge base was ‘God’ – the foundation, the orange jelly—the ’Holy Spirit’ and the chocolate—’The Son’. These Trinity students will never look at a Jaffa Cake in the same way!
All our school Eucharists have a theme which follow the seasons and festivals of the Christian year (see the Chaplaincy section of website for details). Attendance and participation in Eucharists at school are voluntary, and throughout the year the school invites priests to lead these services. We are thankful for the continued and valuable support of our churches and clergy and our school Chaplain, Rev. Dr Birkinshaw in the life of the school.
