Important Information re. Illegal Sweets and Drinks

The Chartered Trading Standards Institute has issued a warning regarding certain imported sweets and fizzy drinks that can be associated with serious health concerns.

The Local Authority are taking this very seriously, and the Council’s Environmental Health team are seizing illegal products from local shops. We therefore wanted to make parents aware so that you/your children do not buy these products.

More information can be found below and on the council’s website: Illegal imported sweets and drinks warning | Illegal imported sweets and drinks warn-ing | Manchester City Council

Some examples of imported food and drinks that have been found to contain banned additives and ingredients are shown below. Some of these brands have products intended for the UK market and comply with legislation. Check the ingredients to make sure the product you’re buying doesn’t contain any of the additives listed on the other side of this newsletter.

Details have also been sent out to parents via Class Charts today. Thank you for your cooperation and vigilance.
