KS3 Music and Awards Evening
It may be a shorter than usual week in school, but we have a special extended edition of the newsletter for our readers in this final week of the school year. To start with, Mrs Madden, Director of Music, tells us all about the KS3 Music and Awards Evening:
“On 16th July, we were treated to a musical spectacular by over 100 Year 7 – 9 musicians and singers at our end of year music celebration evening. We enjoyed performances from Y7 – 9 Steel Pans, Y8 – 9 Band Skills, Training Guitars & Ukuleles, Junior Brass Band, Woodwind Group, and the debut of our Saxophone Ensemble. Throughout the evening, we were wowed by the technical skill and confidence of several Year 9 soloists who performed on piano, voice, guitar, clarinet, violin and drum kit and were absolutely amazing, inspiring our Year 7s and 8s for the future.
Certificates and awards were presented to Year 9s who have made a committed and ongoing contribution to extra-curricular music throughout their time in Key Stage 3, and particular congratulations go to Tilly, Eva, Victoria, Giovanni, Sam and Ninah, who received a special award for being dedicated to 5 or more ensembles during Y7 – 9! All the students who performed
showed great confidence and brought happiness and joy to the proud audience! Well done to all.”
