Piano Concerto Performance

Director of Music, Mrs Madden, tells us about our exceptionally accomplished Year 11 pianist:

“Congratulations to our extremely talented Year 11 student Naomi who recently performed Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto with Stockport Youth Orchestra at Manchester University’s prestigious Cosmo Rodewald Hall. Naomi has been learning piano since she was just 5 years old in Japan. After moving to Manchester, she was selected by Richard Meyrick as a                 Pianoman Scholar in 2020 and has been tutored by the acclaimed pianist in London since then. Alongside studying for her GCSEs, Naomi regularly accompanies school ensembles and the Fallowfield Community Choir. She has won 1st place in piano recital classes at Alderley Edge, Wirral and Blackburn Music Festivals. Several staff and students were delighted and proud to watch Naomi perform the concerto – it was a truly outstanding achievement, and we can’t wait to see what lies ahead in her bright future. Congratulations also to Ninah, Year 9 and Vinchy, Year 12 who performed in the orchestra.”
