STEM Roadshow

Head of Engineering, Mr Barnes, tells us all about the STEM roadshow event:

“The school recently hosted a STEM Roadshow Performance by BAE Systems, in partnership with The Royal Navy and The RAF. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. All of our Year 7 pupils attended the event and the theme of the performance was Artificial Intelligence and the massive impact it will impact all of our futures.

The pupils experienced making a music video and negotiating a maze using AI. However, the star of the show was definitely ‘Fluffy’, an autonomous intelligent robotic dog. These types of robots use complex algorithms to pro-cess information and make decisions. They receive data input from a varie-ty of sources, such as sensors, cameras, and other perception devices.”
