Writing in a Pandemic
Congratulations to Year 11 student, Winston, who was recently named as one of the winners of ‘writing in a pandemic’, organised by the University of Manchester. Students were given an opportunity to submit a form of creative writing, from letters, to poems, to short stories. Over 200 submissions were made and then judged by a panel of professional writers, led by the Professor of Poetry and Director of the Centre for New Writing at the university.
Winston submitted an excellent poem and it was judged to be among the top 15 entries! He received a certificate and a book voucher, and his poem has been published in the university’s online arts journal, ‘The Manchester Review’. You can access the poem online using the below web address – can you guess what it’s about before you get to the end?
