Year 10 Students Shine in Alicante After Padel Triumph
From Lead Teacher of Boys’ PE, Mr Shaw: “A group of talented Year 10 students recently enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Alicante, following their victory at the Manchester Padel Tournament in July. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of JM Padel Academy, the students spent three days receiving world-class coaching at two prestigious venues: the Bela Padel Centre and the Pitu Losada Academy – led by Pitu Losada himself, a three-time World Champion and eleven-time European Champion.
The team – Dylan, John, Kenyi, and Pedro – trained alongside some of Spain’s most promising young players. Beyond the courts, they soaked up the local culture: relaxing on the beach, exploring Alicante’s historic sights, and sampling regional delicacies, including octopus.
Accompanying staff members, Mr Bryan and I, faced the “tough” challenge of enduring 24°C sunshine, crystal-clear waters, and stunning golf course views from the hotel – truly a hardship!
The trip was a resounding success, capped off with fantastic news: the team has qualified for the Schools National Padel Final, where they’ll compete for another major prize. This achievement has inspired the students to intensify their training and aim even higher.”
