Dynamik National Basketball Finals
Teacher of PE, Ms Fairley, tells us about this wonderful achievement:
“This year, two teams competed in the Under 17 and Under 19 Dynamik Schools National finals, after entering both age groups for the first time. Our Under 19 Girls’ team played Crest Academy (London) in the highlight game of the day. Trinity started well ending the first quarter 19 – 9, yet Crest refused to go quietly and battled back to grab the lead with 7 minutes 2 seconds remaining. Trinity did well to keep their composure, and crucial plays from Jane, Wayet and Irene sparked a small lead which kept our opponents at bay until the final buzzer, winning 68-60. Irene secured the ‘Most Valuable Player’ award, finishing the game with 24 points and 21 rebounds. Special mention to Wayet who scored 25 points and hit vital shots down the stretch. It was a great team performance, and everyone contributed to the success.
Our Under 17 girls also played a tough match-up against City of London Academy (COLA), who had previously won last year. Although we entered the match as underdogs, Trinity did not shy away from the challenge and played with heart for the full forty minutes. Due to missing players, Under 14 players, Akeala and Isioma, stepped in and were a valuable addition to the team, as they brought energy and created plays for themselves and others. COLA sealed the win, however, Trinity showed resilience and determination. Coaches ‘Most Valuable Player’ was awarded to captain Mikayla as she displayed impeccable leadership and defence.”
Congratulations to both teams on their achievements and success!
