Half Term
What a start to the new school year. None of us could have anticipated the ‘second wave’ of Covid-19 and just how we would cope, but I have to extend my thanks to all staff, parents, students and the support of Public Health England and the Local Authority who have guided us through the first two months. We have had 38 positive cases in total which has led around a third of our 1500 students being asked to ‘self-isolate’ for two weeks at any particular time. However, this means that an average of 90%+ of students have remained on site in full time education. I know parents have been thankful that we’ve not been sending students home unnecessarily.
We need to expect a similar pattern to schooling up to Christmas. It may become even more challenging in which case we have some timetable changes that can be implemented to keep as many students ‘on site’ as possible. On a very positive note, we have ordered over 100 laptops with the aim of ‘loaning a laptop’ to all students (if they require it) that are forced into self isolation for more than 10 days from this point onwards. This should mean that our remote learning offer is accessible to every student.
I wish you all a very safe and healthy half term. If your child tests Covid positive over this weekend or through half term, please call school on 0161 212 1900 or email laming_a@trinityhigh.com and we will be in contact.
