Hallé Orchestra GCSE Music Trip
From Director of Music, Mrs Madden: “Our Year 10 and 11 GCSE Music classes enjoyed a fantastic concert at The Bridgewater Hall on Friday 17th October, given by the Hallé Orchestra to support the music curriculum.
The annual Set Works Concert gives an opportunity for 2000 A-level and GCSE Music students from all over Greater Manchester to come together and learn about the evolution of the orchestra, from Baroque to Film Music, opera to symphony, musical theatre to pop music. The students thoroughly enjoyed the concert, especially the opening theme from Star Wars and even a fully orchestrated version of Africa by Toto!

It was good also to hear about careers in music, especially the musical journey of the solo flautist, who began her flute playing at school, attended Hallé Youth Orchestra and Junior Royal Northern College of Music before heading to conservatoire for her degree - this is the exact route taken by several Trinity students, including our very own tuba player Ini, now in his 2nd year at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and current Y13 oboist Vinchy, who has upcoming auditions for conservatoires in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
The whole concert was very inspiring and informative. Special thanks to the Hallé for providing such excellent opportunities for our students.”
