Melanie Metz, Rest in Peace

This week in school has been a week of sadness and reflection. On Saturday, 5th November, we learned of the death of Melanie Metz, our Learning Support Unit Manager, aged 50. Ms Metz had been working at Trinity for over twenty years and managed the LSU from 2006 to 2022. Under Ms Metz”s stewardship, our Learning Support Unit became the place where our extraordinary pastoral care would be seen to flourish. Ms Metz created a safe space with firm boundaries, but the spirit that existed in the area was of compassion, love and kindness for the students and staff who needed her support. Our students and staff have been reflecting on Ms Metz in books of condolence and many beautiful words have been written about her. One student wrote: “I look up to you as a mother role model, you are everything I hope to be, strong, loving, kind and beautiful”

Ms Metz epitomised all that is truly great about this school;she held a commitment to the highest pastoral care for those most in need; a believer that faith and love should work through our daily lives and a person who brought joy, light and hope to a world sometimes filled with darkness.

The school, current and ex-members of staff and students are truly broken-hearted at this loss.

We are collecting ‘reflections’ on a life so devotedly lived through this e-mail address:reflections@trinityhigh.comPlease feel free to email your memories and condolences.
