National Basketball Champions

From Teacher of PE, Ms Fairley: “Trinity excelled at the Under 14 and Under 16 Dynamik National Schools competition, winning gold for both age groups. Under 14 girls claimed the conference title with a 78 – 56 victory over FitzWimarc School (Essex). Trinity started the game slowly, ending the first quarter down 12 points. However, Trinity gained control after impressive defence from Taraneh and Sahara, plus performances from Ijisonuwe, who earned MVP (most valuable player) with a huge double-double (30 pts, 25 rebounds). Akeala (37 pts, 5 steals) and Chiamaka (10pts, 22 rebounds) also played outstandingly. Trinity then dominated the second half and maintained the lead until the final buzzer.

Under 16 Girls made it two-for-two, beating Bristol Met 75 – 56 to win the championship. Trinity led from the start however, the lead got within 10 points after foul trouble sent key players to the bench. The girls showed resilience, and Trinity were still able to get good production from the likes of Wayet (16 pts, 15 rebounds), Sally (14 pts, 8 rebounds) and Rosie (10 pts). Irene added another accolade to her career, collecting MVP honours with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals in just 24 minutes. Trinity made history by being one of the few schools to win three finals out of four. Well done to all players involved in making basketball very successful this year!”
