‘Sevens’ Festival

Last Tuesday, I was invited by our Year 10 rugby team to attend a ‘sevens’ festival at Sheffield University. Our squad of 11 players played 5 matches, winning all 5 against teams from Northumberland, Sunderland, Leeds, Leicester and Ashton. The boys played with great spirit, attacking with flair and defending with strength. What most impressed me was the great relationship they had with each other, their teacher, Mr Dootson, the respect shown for the referee and their generous nature with the opposition teams. They were a credit to the school – an overused phrase in newsletters – but fortunately I was there to know it’s the most appropriate way to say well done boys!
