Visit from the Governor of the Bank of England – Mark Carney

The Governor of the Bank of England’s representative in the north recently called the school and asked if Mr Mark Carney would be able to pay us a visit on 15th July, 2019. Mr Carney spent some time looking at the GCSE artwork on the Temple corridors and then met some Year 7, 8 and 12 students in our Engineering department where he saw cutting edge 3D printers in action, printed circuit boards being designed and Mr Barnes’ Year 8 class testing their styrofoam cars to the limits! Following lunch, Mr Carney addressed over 100 sixth formers and staff, explaining the bank’s work, answering questions on Brexit and other issues and he then extended an invitation to our students to work at the Bank of England.  It was a memorable visit from a genuinely inspirational man.
