Anti-violence Talk
From Head of PSHCE, Mrs Emery: Last week, students in Year 8, Year 9, and the Sixth Form took part in an important anti-violence session, delivered by Alison Cope the mother of Joshua Ribera, who tragically lost his life in 2013. Alison spoke powerfully about the realities and consequences of vio-lence (including knife crime), the harmful impact of social media, and how the choices young people make can deeply affect their loved ones. Her message focused strongly on prevention and personal responsibility. The session had a profound impact on our students.
Below are a few reflections from our KS3 students:
“I want to thank Alison for presenting her assembly to us. It was very helpful and informative.”
“Please do another one. Even though it was sad, it was worth it and very well informed.”
“I think it would be good for everyone to know what we learnt.”
Navigators from Oasis (funded by the Violence Re-duction Unit) were also on hand to support any of the students affected by the content.
